Rapache is available on Ubuntu Hardy Backports!

Hey people, rapache 0.6 is finally in Universe!

Thanks to Steve Langasek for the NEW package upload.

For those who doesn’t know Rapache (ra-pa-che), n. 1. a python + GTK tool that uses the SSH protocol (one day, still local right now) to manage and configure apache2 and all of its modules. GPL`d, Its goal is to provide the user with a simple interface to facilitate the work to those who want to set up a web-server in a few clicks. 2. Rapacious bird (italian: rapace).

Same rapache version is available for Ubuntu Hardy Heron via Rapache-Developers PPA.

For install it (on Ubuntu Hardy Heron) please add this repository in /etc/apt/sources.lists:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/rapache-devel/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/rapache-devel/ubuntu hardy main

Now update and install rapache

apt-get update
apt-get install rapache

I worked to write setup.py that will enable you to complete the installation (by rapache-stage0 branch) inside of your system with icon in the menu.

I am pleased to announce that Luana Polleggioni (my girlfirend) joined Rapache Team to manage the graph environment of the software (icons and logos).

I believe that a feminine touch will be needed to make the GUI more simple and nice.

The roadmap will be long and difficult, but we invite you to support us by giving advice through the Launchpad Blueprints.

Soon maybe you will be able to use rapache, a simple tool for remotely managing and configuring an apache2 instance without having to hassle around through configuration files.

Damiano Di Carlo and I have started now to write it, and hope to show you the first results very soon, our goal is to get stable and working for Intrepid or Intrepid+1.
